Susan Elizabeth Phillips and other fun things
Today I did something FUN. I abandoned my role as author, I recaptured my lifetime joy of being a reader, and I went to the signing of an author I have been reading since I was in college: Susan Elizabeth Phillips. She is one of those authors you go back to after a spell of bad books to remind you what you love so much about reading–her characterizations, her dialogue, her sense of humor. Her strong women. And, of course, romance!
And now I can add this: in addition to being such an excellent writer, she is one very classy lady. It was a pleasure to meet her.
PLUS, she said that I was a Natural Born Charmer. She DID. She wrote: “To Laura” and drew a little arrow to the title. Although, I did spy on some of the people who got their books signed after me, and I have a suspicion she might have told EVERYone they were Natural Born Charmers.
Still. We can all be Natural Born Charmers. That’s okay. It’s not like we were in a COMPETITION for Charms candy or anything, right, BettyD and Laura Z?
Here is a picture of the OTHER fun thing I did today. Or at least started. Truffles are a multi-day process. For how to win the finished product, plus a copy of Blame It on Paris, make sure to check out Dee and Dee Dish on Monday.
