Regarde! Look look look look!

Regarde! Look look look look!

Doesn’t “look” look funny when you write it out too many times? It looks as if I’ve gotten my words confused with strange bird calls.

I was so on my best intentions not to be All About Me today, but I can’t help myself. Look what I got in the mail last night!

Is this not the most beautiful bookmark? If it was for your book, wouldn’t you almost be in tears of pleasure?

bookmark2.jpg

Darn, I just realized my photos don’t show some of the details. Like, just above this little envelope is a metal strip that says “Bon Voyage” and the message just below it, with the little bird flying above it, says, “Journey of a Lifetime.”

What happened was, Phyllis over at Shabby in the City organized a bookmark swap which of COURSE I did NOT take part in because…I really don’t want to torture anyone with my idea of visual art.

Well. I don’t want to torture anyone ANYMORE. My sister and I used to make little “shops” when we were kids, and my parents and all my siblings had to come and buy the stationery, bookmarks, etc. that we made, but…the problem is, my bookmark production skills have remained at that 7-year-old level.

So I have quit doing that.

However, a lovely woman named Rhonda saw that Shabby in the City was reading Blame It on Paris and so she made her a special Blame It on Paris bookmark for part of the swap.

And being the greedy person I am, I started jumping up and down saying, “Me, too! Please me too! I want a special Blame It on Paris bookmark, too!”

And…here it is… The front’s not all! Look at the back!

bookmark5.jpg

Up close…the old text here is a very romantic passage of two lovers kissing as they part…

Back to the front, the little postcard comes out of its envelope…

bookmark3.jpg

And flips over to say…

That is so beautiful. Thank YOU, Rhonda! And now I will have to go luxuriate in the pure pleasure of receiving this bookmark for a while and work on being All About Someone Else tomorrow.

  • That IS beautiful, a work of art. Don’t you love blog love? My boys got a gift in the mail today, too, from a fellow blogger. I love this Internet community.

  • Yes, blog love is something. Especially when it involves chocolate mice sent by a certain lovely lady named Amy. 🙂

You are right, Clarice! I should frame it or something. Except framing it would kind of crush the texture, which is part of its beauty. I’ll have to figure out a way to take care of it that shows off both sides, too.

  • Hmmmm…very nice, very nice indeed
Does that very pretty book mark seem to be as large as, or even larger than the book?
Hmmm…could you possibly give the link to Amy, who sends out chocolate mice..?
    Better yet her home address?

  • Oh my! That really IS beautiful! And don’t feel bad, Laura. Your seven-year-old skills trump my six-year-old ones.

  • Oh yayyyyeee!!!
She is an artiste! I’m goin’ right now to get to the bottom of how she does this…like where did that passage come from??? I love this part of how a simple little bookmark swap unfolded 🙂 Happy, happy, fun, fun! Kiss Sebastien for me! Never mind, I’ll do it myself. Geesh.

  • Hey! What’s this about kissing Sébastien? 🙂

I LOVE that bookmark. That was so much fun. Thanks for organizing the swap!
