It’s Not All About Me
My blog is saying sarcastic things about me. When you go into the archives it says “so-many posts in 3 meager categories”. Meager. Isn’t that a little bit uppity for a blog? I just don’t feel it should be judging its own creator quite that way. And I wonder a little bit how to get it to stop, since it seems I should be able to get my own blog to stop being sarcastic to me if I want. It’s making me all sensitive.
Especially since, recently, I ran across a reference to an NYT or maybe NY Post review of a memoir that said something to the effect that “in any case, you have to be pretty self-absorbed to write a memoir”. If I were a little less self-absorbed, I would probably remember exactly who said it and exactly what he said, but there you go. I should point out that he wasn’t actually writing about me, but being so self-absorbed, I took it personally anyway.
I have decided to take neither my own blog’s criticisms nor some other person’s review of another person sitting down. And therefore I am launching a NEW category: “Not All About Me.”
Take THAT, uppity blog archives.
And as part of this initiative, I will be hosting various guest stars from time to time, who will answer my questions and be available to answer any of yours you want to post in the comments.
The very first guest star was really Mimi yesterday. But the VERY SECONDS will be Jayne and Jane of Dear Author.Com, who will be here tomorrow to tell us all about how they got started on their incredibly successful reader blog, how they developed the EXCELLENT judgment that they show in liking ME, and all its ups and downs. Plus, what their true identity is behind that mild-mannered façade.
One hint. Jayne’s involves leather.
