Wildflowers in a Whole Foods Jar

Wildflowers in a Whole Foods Jar

I have a hard time explaining why this picture makes me laugh so hard, but it does. Sometimes I laugh at my own jokes and everyone else just looks at me funny.

But it’s something to do with Mason jars and growing up in a Georgia woods and going to Paris and having to resort to Whole Foods vanilla bean jars because I don’t HAVE any Mason jars anymore. But I also don’t have small enough vases for lilies-of-the-valley.

I guess an apple can learn to make Tarte Tatin, but it still doesn’t fall too far from the tree.

P.S. You are supposed to include the big green leaves when you cut muguets and give those muguets away to porter bonheur to smart, funny people with EXCELLENT taste in books who happen to live near you. Sébastien reminded me this for the umpteenth time AFTER I gave it away.

I guess a Southern apple can learn to make Tarte Tatin, but maybe the Tarte Tatin will still have a Southern accent.

P.P.S. I do not really know how to make Tarte Tatin. That is a metaphor. I have been concentrating my baking skills on chocolate so far in my life.

  • i LOVE it! That’s just perfect.
I still remember summers spent on the back porch at Grams’ house, drinking sweeeeet tea out of Mason jars. Ahhh, there is just something about the Mason jar that actually makes it taste better.

Have more to say, but dealing with BIG headache right now. I think this is the perfect time to test the LauraFlorandCureForTheMigraine. In other words, I’m heading to the store to find some dark chocolate now. Wish me luck!

  • I looked at that picture and thought “It looks exactly like the one Laura gave me which is sitting right beside my computer monitor!” I mean *right* beside it. Then I realized it IS the one you gave me. Thanks again and next year I’ll know to look for lots of big green leaves.

  • Oh my..there are some things about having a French husband that could drive one up a wall, like the proper way to do stuff…
