Two of Cups

Two of Cups

A little while back, Laume proposed a blogging project in which people would make their own Tarot cards.

I thought this was a really fun idea, and she posted it on my birthday, which seemed like a sign I should do it. Of course, MY Tarot deck was going to be completely focused on CHOCOLATE. Chocolate Wands, chocolate Suns, chocolate Fools, etc.

I was a bit limited by the fact that my knowledge of the Tarot deck could fit on the head of a pin and leave plenty of room for cherubim to dance on, and not only all the cherubim but let’s just invite all the seraphim, thrones, principalities, and powers while we’re at it. So I didn’t come up with anything right away.

Therefore, I had to try to do research and during the process of research and brainstorming and having copies of Blame It on Paris trailing everywhere in my messy house, guess what suddenly clicked in my little brain:

Blame It On Paris - cover

It is the Two of Cups! Isn’t that so cool? Look up what the Two of Cups means! I wonder if Jo Tronc, the artist, deliberately evoked that image, or it was subconscious, or just completely accidental. Maybe I’ll have to ask her.

Here is what is in my cup, by the way:

I think this could also be my second Tarot card: the Sun.

More on chocolat chaud later. On this subject, I feel that I and the general hot cocoa drinking public have to have a little talk.

Meanwhile, if you decide to make your own Tarot card, let me know! (And particularly let Laume know, of course, since it’s her project.) She’s got some great ideas to get people started on her site, and I would love to see what other people come up with, too. It’s a nice way to get your creative juices stirring.

  • More on chocolat chaud later….
    Oh NO!
Another TEASER!!! I WANT IT NOW..
or at least what kind of choco is in that sweet little cup?
    I’ll worry about cards later…

  • Ohhhhh Laura…I can dabble in chocolate all day but…YIKES! Yeah, head of a pin here too. I’m clinging to the cherubim and the seraphim! I see a fleur de lis in your cuppa…don’t you see it?!
    I’ll put a word in for the bookmark…I called but nobody was home…left a message…”Bookmark needed in Georgia…I mean Paris…I mean Georgia…”

  • Laura,
That Tow of Cups thing? Kinda spooky, eh? I mean, how perfect is that for your book? And your life? Wow. Very cool.

Hey, I’m heading down to NC to have lunch with friends on the 21st. Any chance you’d want to do dinner? Let me know. I’m in Dallas this week, but still have internet and e-mail, and would love to hear from you!
