LUC AND SUMMER NOVEL, update & order button

The LUC AND SUMMER novel. All the beta readers say I really should publish it. (Although some say that, yes, it will probably be polarizing.) What do you think?

SHADOWED HEART

Three words, to shake a man’s existence.

Three words, to call on all a man’s strength, all his courage, all his love, and all his ability to hope and dream…and trust.

Three words, to wake up every fear a man has ever had.

“I’m pregnant, Luc.”

Now how could a man be perfect enough for that?

    Polarizing how?
I can see how it’d be strong, complicated, conflicted and pretty much wonderful, but unsure on polarizing.
Also, from what I’ve seen thus far, you haven’t really been pulling your punches that much, so why start now? On the other hand, you might have a hella lot of skellies in the beta-reader only closet, so this is me talking from what I’ve read only.
I actually find the idea of being all happy-squee-funtimes-joy with pregnancy problematic. It’s a fraught thing for me. I think over-consumption by our maybe-over-population is a problem. I worry about the ethics of bringing a life into this messy world we live in — being non-con birthed(!). As someone who has a couple of genetic dispositions toward certain illnesses, not the least of which include ADD and depression and who is inching up into maybe-shouldn’t-spawn age… it’s not an easy decision. My boyfriend of 10 years doesn’t really want kids. — whenever characters in a story are unequivocally happy about a pregnancy, it’s something that doesn’t ring true with me.
Yeah, I’m a freak, but I don’t think I’m the only freak in the world.
I want to read this book. I really do. And I trust in your ability to handle it with care, delicacy and beauty.

  • Can’t wait! Well, I mean, obviously I have to. But I’m really looking forward to this. Even from that tiny excerpt, it’s very clear you’re building off the original characters and conflicts. Yay!

My husband is positive that the first thing he did when I told him I was pregnant was to hug me. And I am positive the first he did was say in shock, “But where are we going to live?”

Romance books are tricky because they can’t be TOO real and they can’t be TOO unbelievable. I love your books partly because of their balance between the two. Looking forward!

  • I’ve adored most of your Chocolate et Amour books! I LOVE all your heroes!!! At least three of the books permanently live on my phone. I love Luc’s character (as met in The Chocolate Temptation), but I haven’t yet read The Chocolate Heart. I know I’ll love Luc, but I don’t know if I’ll like Summer (based on various reviews some people love her some don’t). I like the idea of the new book. I suspect I’ll read it first and then go back and read The Chocolate Heart (sometimes I need to know how things work out before I can relax and enjoy reading how the characters got there – I don’t know if I want to know what that says about me). What I’m dying to know is if Patrick and Sarah show up in Shadowed Heart. I would SO love to read more of their story! I loved the kitchen scenes. I could happily read a whole book set in Patrick’s own work kitchen, but that’s what I’m dying to know. What did Patrick and Sarah decide to do? Maybe I’m an idiot (probably), but I couldn’t figure it out. Did he take over as head pastry chef from Luc and did Sarah stay on as an intern? My brain seems to think I read a passing comment in The Chocolate Kiss that the couple had set up their own business, but I was ill when I read that book so I may have imagined it. If you can say what happened…please do! Unless there’s another book in the making in which case I’ll happily wait to buy a copy. 😉

      • Thank you for feeding my curiosity! Now I know I will HAVE to buy Shadowed Heart and read it first.
I await the newsletter telling us it’s on line and ready to buy!!! 🙂
