CHOCOLATE KISS cover & which Paris monument would you choose?
My favorite kind of surprise when we got back from our weekend trip last night: the cover for book 2 of the series, THE CHOCOLATE KISS, which comes out December 24, 2012. (Well, all right, second favorite kind of surprise, after finding a box of chocolates from some new chocolatier, which, you can understand why, completely makes my week).
Now a question. If you look closely, you’ll notice that the cover artist (Kristine Mills) is using a different Paris monument on each cover. CHOCOLATE THIEF (Aug 2012) will have (of course!) the Eiffel Tower. CHOCOLATE KISS will have the Arc de Triomphe (even though the Arc de Triomphe is never seen once in this particular novel, but who’s quibbling with symbols?). But we have at least two more books in this series! What two Paris monuments would you choose for the others?

An outdoor cafe such as Cafe de la Paix
Tuileries Garden around the basin
fountains from Versailles

Indeed, this is the best kind of surprise! 🙂 I really like the cover, it fits well with The Chocolate Thief. I find that continuity in covers for series is always good.
Hmmm, two monuments. I can only come up with one at the moment and it’s the pyramid at the Louvres 🙂 I’d have to think a little bit more to come up with a second one ^_^;

I thought of the second monument: Notre-Dame!

Hmm…without having actually discussed it, because I didn’t realize there would be a different monument on each one until I got this last cover, I am thinking Notre-Dame must be too religious? Otherwise, it’s actually the best monument symbol for THE CHOCOLATE KISS which takes place primarily on the Ile Saint-Louis, so Notre-Dame is a frequent symbol. We actually never see the Arc de Triomphe in this book, but Book 4 is primarily set around the Champs-Elysées, so it would have worked well, there. But I think the marketing idea is primarily just to have a recognizable symbol of Paris.
I like the idea of a café table or the Pyramide du Louvre!
Book 3 is set around République and the Canal Saint-Martin…I wonder if one of the bridges over the canal or the statue in République would be recognizable enough? I think it’s got to trigger “Paris” in people’s minds pretty automatically.

I would use Rodin’s favorite statue The Thinker and one of the many bridges over the Seine they are romantic

A bridge would be beautiful. Pont Alexandre III, or Pont Neuf, or Pont des Arts with one of the lamps and maybe a glimpse beyond of the Ile de la Cité. I like the idea of the Thinker, too. 🙂
OK, here’s my new idea–one of the Notre-Dame gargoyles, with the skyline beyond. Or does that seem too “witchy” or creepy somehow?
